Pierre-Gilles de Gennes winter school Cargèse 2008

Biophysical topics in cell adhesion, motility, and neuroscience

February 18-22, 2008

The Pierre-Gilles de Gennes Winter School for graduate students is aimed at bringing together young scientists for one week every winter in Cargèse, Corsica, France. The primary objective of this international school is to provide an education in modern biophysics to young physicists and biologists beyond the context of their current work.

Cargèse is located on the coast of the beautiful island of Corsica in the sunny Mediterrenean Sea. The "Institut d'Etudes Scientifiques de Cargèse" is a fully equipped conference center which hosts schools and workshops year-round.

The first session of this graduate student winter school in biophysics is devoted to an eclectic mix of topics that Pierre-Gilles de Gennes worked on for the last five years of his life, ranging from cell adhesion and motility to neuroscience.
